New Bedford Man Arrested with a Firearm After Traffic Stop
New Bedford, MA — Detectives have taken a firearm off the street and placed the man who possessed it under arrest.
On Friday, Feb. 28th, detectives assigned to the Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau were monitoring activity in the north end sector.
Acting on information gathered by Det. Matthew Couture, detectives stopped a vehicle on Belleville Avenue, just south of Coffin Avenue. The driver was identified as CRISTHIAN JOEL GONZALEZ, 21, of 1020 Rockdale Avenue.
During a search of the car, detectives located a 9mm Taurus loaded with seven rounds of ammunition behind a center display screen in the dashboard. GONZALEZ was secured and taken into custody. He was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
The arresting officer was Det. Jonathan Miranda.
