South-End Couple Arrested After A Kilo of Narcotics Seized
New Bedford, MA — A local man and woman have been placed into custody following a Monday night drug raid in the city’s south end, which resulted in the seizure of well over a kilo of illicit drugs.
On Monday, February 24th, detectives concluded their investigation into a fentanyl distribution service being operated out of 99 Swan ST., APT.1N. A search warrant was executed, with the targets being CHRISTOPHER FERREIRA, 37, and KAYLA KASMOUSKI, 33.
As a result of the search that followed, detectives seized over 824 grams of cocaine, over 512 grams of fentanyl, 76 film strips of Suboxone, an assortment of pills, packaging materials, digital scales, and $5,643 in US currency that was seized as a result of that nature of the charges.
FERREIRA and KASMOUSKI were both charged with trafficking in 200 grams or more of cocaine, trafficking in 200 grams or more of fentanyl, conspiracy to violate the drug law, and possession to distribute “crack.”
KASMOUSKI was additionally charged with trafficking fentanyl in 18 grams or more and a warrant arrest.
“This is a substantial amount of narcotics to be taken off the streets, and I’m very grateful for the hard work that goes into an investigation like this,” said Chief Paul Oliveira. “In a time where fentanyl is wreaking such havoc in our communities, we can measure the value of these seizures not only in grams but in the number of lives saved. A job well done.”
