Second Arrest Made in Blue-Meadows Shooting Incident

New Bedford, MA — Detectives have taken a second man into custody for a shooting in the Blue Meadows housing development that occurred last month.

20-year-old DAZIERE COLTON was placed under arrest on October 17th by detectives assigned to the Major Crimes Division after being spotted at the Kempton St./Chancery St. intersection.  He was charged with a variety of offenses, including assault by discharge of a firearm, receiving a stolen vehicle, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.

The charges stem from a shooting incident that occurred on September 24th, during which two victims were struck by gunfire.  As a result of the investigation that followed, two arrests have now been made, the first being TYRELL PRATT, 20, of New Bedford. Earlier this month, PRATT was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a firearm during the arrest.

“We have made this brazen shooting a top priority, and I’m proud to announce that two arrests have been made.  I’m also confident that there are more arrests on the way,” said Chief Paul Oliveira.

Det. Alan Kubik is the investigating detective.
